make sure you get a good enlistment bonus, at least 15,000, i know you arent doing it for the money, but you are entitled to it, make sure you research the jobs available to you and pick the one you'd like most. but also pick one that would be in demand or useful in the civilian world. be safe and follow your heart.

I used to see many good reasons for joining the armed forces, when it was involved strictly in humanitarian and peace keeping missions. Canada has now become involved in a cause I do not support and the United States is way in over its head with it hostile occupation. However there once was a great satisfaction in knowing that you were involved in keeping your country and the citizens free. My concern now is with the safety of the children that they are shipping off to be slaughtered in the name of greed. At one time anyone in the service was afforded a wonderful experience of learning other countries and cultures languages and traditions. The post secondary bonus educational opportunities were also excellent and both men and women felt a sense of pride being involved in doing good. I can't say I believe all this but if this young girl is certain that this is what she wished to experience I would explain to her truthfully what she may encounter and let her decide if when she is eighteen she still wants to enlist. There used to be organizations such as the reseresthat were preliminary experience before actually joining the military and this would give young people a good idea of what they were getting into. I wish her well.

Think carefully before you do anything. It will be really tough.Consider if you are physically able to join the military. Are you emotionally prepared to work in a male-dominated environment, away from you family with no support? Are you able to stand the taunts from you fellow male cadets? Are you able to excel? You must excel in order to shut the mouths of the male cadets and you worried relatives who will say"I told you so..."If you can do all that, why not?You just might be the best military woman around.Good Luck!

Girls and live amunition do not mix. Also women are unfit to protect a country, they are unfit because they dont give a damn. When the men of a country are beaten they will just do what they kept doing, compete for the males who prooved themselfs superior so women are primaly concerned to keep their wombs out of danger and that does not make them of much use when the brown stuff hits the fan.

Make sure she REALLY understands that she stands a good chance of getting maimed or killed. A lot of kids have romantic, noble visions of serving their country. An admirable choice! But they should make that choice with a clear, unromanticized view of the risks. The truth is a lot different than the lies recruiters tell and the propaganda in ARMY commercials.

As a muslim I say no. As a women I say no.Women do not belong on the battlefield for so many reasons. There are other ways to pay for school. the military is not like regular society. You cant put a young women in the desert surrounded by men. As you have seen on the news what is happening to these young women. Women are women and men are men.

I would encourage her to speak with Military Women, both active duty and ex-GIs. There are so many things that most civilians do not understand about the military.
Even when considering signing up,most civilians' information comes from Recruiters, who are basically sales people for the Military.
Good luck

Don't be one of the truck drivers! They have one of the highest mortality rates. Otherwise, it's their life and if they think the Army (or another military branch) is a good fit for them then good luck to them.
