Other than eating garlic, are there any other natural methods to ward off an oncoming cold?

You can fight colds with a good immune system. To build it up try taking Echinachea in either tincture or tablet form. But beware, it tastes terrible (as most herbs do) so you may want to take in a tablet form. Garlic is also great for colds, I assume that you probably don't like eating it since you asked for other options... but you can also take that in tablet form as well. Garlic and Echinacea paired together are unstoppable.

A great product that I am very fond of is Emergen-C. It is available every where now. It is 1200 mg of Vitamin C and various other mineral supplements. It helps to build up the immune system if you're not sick (by taking it daily) and it helps you to get over a cold quickly if you are sick. This requires you to drink it every hour on the hour. It's safe, effective, and extremely easy and convenient (they come in individual packets).

Allow the body to sweat out. This can be done by drinking hot herbal teas or just covering the body with a warm blanket and let it sweat for about 15 to 20 minutes. Drinking warm water in which a drop of lemon or honey is added twice or thrice a day will help relieve symptoms of cold.

I take Echinacea as soon as I feel even a little scratch in my troat to avoid getting a cold. I haven't been sick in over year because I always take it when i feel something coming on. And if the cold does sneak up on me, I still take Echinacea and the tea, that shortens the duration of the cold. What used to be 3 weeks cold is now just a few days. Vitamin C also, I take the chewables.

You know the typical is citric fruits,
Then you have Kiwi, too,
You also have a herbal tea called: Echinacea. It's great with honey! Even when you're already in the flu, it'll help to recover after fevers.

Eat a good healthy diet rich in vitamin c. Get plenty of sleep to keep your body strong enough to fight off the cold. And wash your hands often.
