Divorce is what I'm talkin'bout.
When two individuals wanna get married they don't need to ask permission of any authority -legal or otherwise. Then why do they need the permission of legal authorities to dissolve the marriage?

That's why I hate marriage, or over legality.
In UK/US.. the living partner/relationship without marriage is growing. That's the answer to marriage/divorce and freedom from legal burden

Very good question. Yes you are right when two individual want to get married they don’t need to ask permission of any authority legal or otherwise. But after marriage they get social & legal recognition as husband & wife so society & law come into play. But here too there is an exception where if two of them mutually agree to part company they can do so by mutual consent, just they have to inform about this to the legal authorities who gives them a year & half time to rethink in case they want to remain married but after this time period they remain adamant for divorce they are given the decree of divorce & now the are legally free as individual as they were before marriage. I have told this whole legal situation in a very simple language without using much legal terminology for you to understand it.

Marriage is a spiritual and legally binding institution. (Just as valid as say...a corporation). In the past marriage did require permission, and partners did not even have a choice ( in some cultures) who they married. This 'love-marriage' trend has came about in the last few decades (hence one of the factors that has boasted the divorce rate!)

Ur missing a point there.. every marriage needs to be registered to a legal authority or in a office.. so ultimately u need legal people coming in when its abt divorce..

I think your premise is a bit shaky. Authorities are indeed involved when you make the decision to get married, albeit in a different way. Think about it: You DO have to get a license to get married , and licenses are only granted by a state gov't in the US. And you also have to find someone licensed and legal to marry you. Make that two authorities to marry, one to divorce.

Muslim spouses get divorced by themselves as per Islam. They need not petition any court or authority, allege truely or falsely, prove through witnesses & documents and clean their dirty linen on the roads. Hindu & Christian Marriage Acts require all these in India.

It is because of the money involved in property and court proceedings. You can enter into marriage without anything, but you cannot get out unless you have money to pay.

Actually, when you get married you DO have to get a legal license, or have banns read in church for three weeks if you are Catholic.
