Those Rules, the 10 commandments are God's Laws. And they are very simple to keep humankind harmony.
If the USA is a Country based on Christianity, Why politicians are against those basic laws?

I would accept them as such, as Judeo-Christianity, while being rejected by so many, is nevertheless the basis of our civilisation and scale of values. One must draw the line between law and morality and yet in so many areas of the law legislation is in place because it reflects the values of this civilisation of ours, including concern for our neighbour. While many would argue that they could not accept the supremacy or even existence of the Creator, they nevertheless concede that a supreme authority must be in place in order that a country be properly governed and indeed, it is vital to accept the supremacy of the courts in settling disputes and dealing with offenders. I would, therefore, accept that the Ten Commandments, in general terms, are the Supreme Law for humankind.
Personally I accept them as the supreme law.

The USA is based on freedoms. Perhaps America has too many freedoms that we choose wrong a majority of the time. The Ten Commandments are moral law for all humankind--and i agree--this world would be more harmonious if all humans followed this morality. Unfortunately the choices we make are often not moral. So many people get their panties all in a wad that Christians are taking over the world--and trying to put God in everything. Is it so wrong? ...to love ..to give...to help others...to not want to steal, kill and worship any other gods but ours....and to want to die with peace? Not all Christians are extreme-ists street corner preachers. The Ten Commandments are not off the wall type of laws...they are simple tasks that should be "obvious" not to do. Thank you...for posing this question!

Coragryp… you take fact and mix it with your imagination to invent what you think is truth.
The 10 Commandments were just laws given by Moses to the people Moses was leading at the time. The Bible was written so that the world would have plenty of wars and not get too over populated.
Faith is fraud. If God existed and loved us, he would come visit sometime. Visiting you in your heart or mind is just you imagining something in to being. I love my children, so I keep them close.
The golden rule is the only good central law because it is good for both you and everyone else, and you don't have to believe in God or the tooth fairy to see it's value.

They are a base to grow from. Most laws come just a common sense knowledge of what's right or wrong. I hear a lot of people say that we have too many laws and I agree. However it's not the lawmakers and governments fault that we have too many laws. If people would act like mature adults who know the difference between right and wrong we wouldn't need these laws. The only people who can change the fact that we have too many laws are the ones who keep breaking them.

No.

At best, they are the supreme set of rules for those who choose to believe them. The Old Testament is only really applicable to Jews and Christians. At last count, that's under 20% of the world. And not even all of them choose to follow those rules.

So by any sort of math, only a small percentage of mankind even believes the 10 Commandments have any validity, and most of them recognize the commandments as guidelines that have no legal force or effect.

Even where there is overlap, only a few of the commandments have any relation to the mundane legal system -- murder, theft, perjury. The first five are purely matters of religious faith and practice. And while adultery is arguably something the law could get involved in, coveting is purely a mindset and impossible to legislate.

So, even within the commandments, at most 40% could possibly bear any relation to legal issues, and those -- murder, theft, perjury, oath-breaking -- have been part of every legal and justice system in every country and every religion. Hardly grounds for claiming the Old Testament as the sole source of those prohibitions.

EDIT -- The US is not founded on Christianity. Most of the Founders were Deists, not Christians. And the country was founded on religions freedom, not one religion as dominant.

The USA is not based on christianity...hince the First Amendment...you cannot make that argument.

If you want to say the Ten commandments are a good thing..that is great but you cannot hold our leaders to this standard unless they are based in United States law allowed under the Constitution.

God's Laws were created to keep natural equilibrium in our planet and our spirits. God laws save your soul and keep your mind stable. God is perfect and humans are imperfect. God's laws are above any human law.
