I've applied to a couple of schools in my area for my M.A. degree. One school has received my transcripts, GRE scores, reccomendation letters, everything. The other school hasn't received ANYTHING. The people who wrote my rec letters ended up sending multiple hard copies, and finally faxing the letters to the school. The GRE scores have not been received yet, and all of this has been going for about a month. I called the mailroom at the university, and even the undergraduate department to see if my papers were being held up there. Neither department could help. Any ideas?

Assuming you had the correct address for this second school, it does sound like things got lost on their end, since the other school got everything. Unfortunately, that doesn't help you, because they won't admit you if they think they don't have the correct materials, even if they really do have them.

Check with ETS (the Educational Testing Service, the folks who bring you with GRE). Explain to them that School X says that they have not received ths scores, and you need them re-sent. Make sure you are very specific about where and to whom they are to be sent.

Is there any chance this school has a name which sounds very much like that of another school? For example, my undergraduate school had a name which was identical to that of another school in the system, except for the name of the city in which it was located. People often tried to shorten the name by leaving off the city's name, which then meant that things went to the other school.

Good luck, and sorry you are having such troubles!

Well congratulations on getting accepted to that school for graduate studies! How about contacting the director of admissions to the graduate school that has not received the important documents yet. Perhaps the per higher up on the hierarchy can get some results or at least troubleshoot. You may have to try to get the info such as GRE scores and such resent. Wishing you the best :)

If it's a popular program my guess is that your paperwork is sitting in a pile on someone's desk waiting to get filed. Also, if you have any other names like a maiden name that info is coming under, that can gum up the works.
