In small groups of nomadic hunter-gatherers tens of millions of years ago, it would be an advantage to be afraid of "outsiders", and superficial external qualities like skin color, eye color or type of hair would be the easiest way to recognize "outsiders".

But once the agriculture revolution started about 10,000 years ago, commercial contacts with other groups would become more important, and being afraid of "other" people would be a distinct disadvantage.

And now that we live in a globalized post-industrial society, being afraid of other "races" based on superficial external differences is complete nonsens, and a throwback to another type of society that doesn't exist anymore.

Would YOU choose your employer, employees, clients or suppliers based on their hair color? Or their blood type? Of course, for sane people that answer would be "No". So why would anybody base their choices on skin color? The answer : irrational fear or learned prejudices. And that's what we call "racism".

I think it began when Cain murdered Abel. When God cast him out he was marked with a mark. Some people say God caused him to turn black, thus being evil. And Moses from the Bible married an Ethiopian woman. He was not of that country, he was raised in Egypt but born a Jew, so his people were angry at him for marrying her. Modern people have taken that text from the bible and said because she was Ethiopian she was black. Well back then in Africa, everybody was of dark skin color. It wasn't until the Europeans came and starting breeding with the indigenous people of the region that their color began to change. So my belief is that racism started began before Jesus Christ walked the earth.
