Should my mother be having period like symptoms at 65?

My mother is 65 and went through the change of life at 50 , in the last few months she has been having periods , and the pains that acompany them , has anyone any idea what could be causeing this and does it look a bad thing , id prefer an honest answer please :)

She needs to see her dr right away as this bleeding is a sign of something serious such as cancer. Her dr can help her to figure out what could be the cause of this bleeding that she has going on.
