What is it with gym's mirrors? I'm always amazed at how hot I look when looking in those mirrors.

Lighting can show up imperfections in the skin, so if there is a dull light you will look hotter in the mirror

The angle a mirror is cut on will greatly change how you see your reflection. Think of fun house mirrors they can really distort your reflection the same with mirrors in Gyms and stores they are designed to enhance-elongate and slim your appearance. That is why noting looks the same at home you don't have the mirrors - you can set your mirror at a slight angle (6 degrees left or right) and have a slimmer more flattering reflection at home!

there are certain mirrors that can make you look slimmer, it also has to do with how they mount the mirrors on the walls, certain angles are more flattering, but its such a slight angle you cant tell that its not straight. they use these mirrors in high end clothing stores as well so you think you look really great in something when in reality you might not.
