There were many other Presidents. If you are asking about the President of the United States of America though, Washington was first. The President of the Continental Congress doesn't count as a President of the current form of the US government. Nor does President while the US was under the Articles of Confederation.

Washington was the 1st President elected under the current (then new) Constitution.

Prior to that, we had not formed the current country in its current form. So, while there may have been other Presidents, they were presidents of a different country, prior to creating this one.

Under the Articles of Confederation, which came before the Constitution, there was only one branch of the Federal government, Congress. There were "Presidents" of the Congress, but no executive branch or chief executive.
