I am thinking about joining a cheer squad but I am not all that flexible. What should I do?

Just plain ol' toe tounches a couple times a week will make you flexible. I did toe touches standing up and sitting down a couple times a week and within about a month, I could do a split.
Also if you can do a bridge, that will be very helpful too. A bridge is when you (if you are just starting) lay on the floor and put your hands on the floor above your hand so you elbows are facing up. Then you you push up with your arms and legs until you make it all the way up and you look like a bridge.
But that takes a lot of strength, but if you practice for like a week or two, you will get it.

Hello,
I answered one of your questions before, the one on stomach problems. Well I am a cheerleader and I think I can help you out. There is a really good stretch you should practice, it is called a backbend, or a bridge. See the link on how to do it.
Alos, if you want to do cheerleading, practice your jumps. You need to know how to do a toe touch, a herkie, and a hurdeler. see the link on how to do the jumps. Practice them constantly! Trust me because my jumps used to be the worst on the team, but I practiced every night, and now I said to have the best jumps on the squad. I might be captain next season also. Do your jumps in front of a mirror or reflective window. Good luck!

yoga or tai chi are good for flexability. stretch as much as you can a couple of times a day.
