i've had a pain in my left shoulder (at the back) for around 2 months now.
it started feeling like amuscular pain and i went to the doc after 2 weeks as i was concerned, he said it was just muscular and would go away . well i still have it and now it feels like a hot needle is stabbing into my shoulder .
can anyone advise what this is ?
could it be tension or something worse.
i am 38 weeks preg, but everything with baby is fine.

I have the same pain, but in my right shoulder, right underneath my shoulder blade. I find that it gets worse when i sit at my desk at work. I've used warm compresses and ice to soothe it, and also found that pain patches, like the one Ben Gay makes, helps when the pain is very intense. My doctor says it's due to the baby's weight adding pressure to our bodies and that it should go away eventually. Sorry I don't know how to completely "cure" it but you should try some of the pain patches.

I wish I had this 2 years ago when I damaged my rotator cuff while showing off. This is very detailed and really gives you the techniques you need to sort out your own shoulder issues and a lot more info such as preventing further injuries. If you have a shoulder keeping you awake at night you'll know it's no laughing matter.

Stop Shoulder Pain Permanently?

Do you have a habbit of sleeping on your shoulder? Do you lay down on a sofa a lot?or do you do anything else that may block or slow down the blood flow into that shoulder?
More likely you are hurting your shoulder during the sleep - that is when we don't notice discomfort, you have much more blood now, so make sure nothing is blocking your blood flow. Also, make sure your backbone is always straight, so don't sleep on the sofa or on uncomfortable bed/pillow. Cover yourself well at night and make sure that shoulder doesn't stay uncovered.
Ice or heat may help temporarely, but try to find the cause for the pain. If nothing helps, and pain is unbearable, see specialist.

SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR!

Also there are Many Hormones raging through Your system now, so it could be Nothing!

I often use a Heating Pad for my Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. That way I don't have to take Any Medication.

You may even try Simple Exercise, with a Can Good [16 oz] from your Pantry!

Thanks, RR

Sounds like you are sleeping on that side and putting to much pressure on it at night with out knowing it. I would just relax it with hot compresses. And make sure you are stretching before you lift anything. And stretch several times a day. Sometimes during pregnancy the baby pushes your back out of whack and you just need to let it go back to normal. And if it is still bugging you after the baby and your body is back to normal go see another dr.

Probably just tension. You are about to have a baby! :^)

Go pamper yourself with a massage.

I wouldn't worry if the Dr. isn't.
