maybe till 7 on school night and a little later on weekends,i would not let him go into town tho, maybe to the shops if it is still light and he is with a friend, does he want to hang around with his friends, if so do u know his friends or their parents, also is there any space around where u live, maybe he could play in front or around the house till late then u can still keep a eye on them or at least u know there are close if anything happens, it all depends on how mature he is, do u trust him to behave and not go around getting into trouble, hope all this helps, sorry no kids myself.....

Till dark. Once in a while I'll let my son, who just turned 12, hang out outside in my front yard or the next door neighbors front yard after dark, but not all that often. I don't know your town at all, but I do let my son walk to 7-11 by himself or with a friend, 2 blocks away. But he doesn't hang out up town (or down town). Maybe next year when he is 13.

But the fact remains that you are the parent. And what you say goes.

When I was 11, I had pretty much the same issues with my parents. They were treating me like a baby & I hated it. When I turned 12, they eventually started letting me stay out later. I was a drug addict by the time I was 16. :)

I don't let my 11 year old stay out, but we live in Vegas & Vegas pretty much sucks :) I might let him stay out until dark if we lived in a sleepy little town. I just make sure he has plenty of things to play on & with in the back yard & lots of board games in the closet that we can play together.

I always let my kids stay out until it just started to get dark, but just on the weekends. Not on school nights. As for going to town, no way...they were much older.
