If we are in such control and making so much progress,(like the Bush Administration always tells us) then we should know when the job will be done based on Bush's superior planning.
Why can't Bush lay out a plan for what he is doing, and then go out and do it? With benchmarks and dates! Just like any other endeavor/plan/project.
Or does he simply not have a plan or a clue?

For all those worried about "the enemy" knowing.
How about Bush gives us a date(s) when the "enemy" will be defeated? Then we can announce the withdrawal. Or does this all just go on forever at a cost of $trillions?
Why can't Bush give America an answer?

daddio - I never would have invaded the Middle East in the first place. Precisely because it is so volatile and complex.
Too bad Bush was too dumb to realize this.

I hate that we are in the Middle East but the truth is it's so unstable we are locked into it. I think the real deal is he (Bush and other leadership) does have a clue. Alot of things can change in the next hour let alone the coming weeks and months. It's not a good idea to withdraw or set a deadline. When the time comes it will be done...

You NEVER give the enemy your plans. We need to make sure the job is done. I can tell you right now that those morons in congress are only doing this to appease its idiot constituents. They know pulling out too early is a bad move and we'll be right back over there inside 6 months. So here is how it will play out. Come 2008, the delays and excuses will start. It will come back down to the 2010 plan the President has talked about since the beginning. But the idiot constituents of the new congress will not even realize this, because they will be kept busy by another scandal of the presidents secretary jay walking or some other equally dastardly crime.

There are just some things that we are better off not knowing. If WE know that the pull out date is 9/1/08 then so do the enemy!

Bush has no plan or clue in Iraq. That's common knowledge.
But Bush also has no concept of how the govt is supposed to work. Congress has exclusive control over federal funds. That's what the Constitution sets up. See Article I Section 8.
And Congress has tacked on requirements and conditions to grants of money for well over a century. That's standard practice, and how they leverage their funding authority.
Bush just refuses to share power, and refuses to consider Congress a co-equal branch of government. He got spoiled during his first 6 years in office, with a Congress that did pretty much everything he told them to do, no matter how unconstitutional. Now that Congress is standing up and demanding to be treated as a co-equal branch of govt, Bush is throwing a temper tantrum and refusing to play nice.

Because we're trying to fix their country, and pulling out without solving anything, will just be meaning that the men who have died, died in vain. People have given their lives to that pointless war, they don't wanna have an unsuccessful retreat after that.
Personally I think they should just let the Iraqi's rot in their hell hole, they don't want the help their bitter...
Should monitor them closely, via satellite, and then bomb anything that seems relatively military or scientific that they produce.

this is not "any other endeavor".
are we not paying attention.
come sept, '08--according to our congress, the "sectarians" can have Iraq. (nicest name i'll give 'em.)
that is the "deadline".
can you run a WAR like a homework project?
how about processing this with a bit of logic.
how long did it take to get the soldiers out of korea, germany,kosovo,etc...?
