Maybe they were more aware of the situation than the Iranians, maybe they realized, hey lets not start a shooting war.
Give me a GPS readout of where the soldiers were, and if it shows they were in Iranian waters, then Britian should apologize...but oh, Iran still hasn't produced it yet...until they do Iran should handle this situation carefully, which they aren't doing.

Is there some way to show from either side that they were or were not in Iraq/Iran waters. If so, then why hasn't it been proven? The video clips show some of the sailors/marines admitted to breaking the rules. It could be they were saying this to claim responsibility or just to satisfy the Iranian government so they could be released. So now release them even if they don't get an apology from the British government. Fifteen human lives are more important than government grudges and pride. But then consider the source!

1: They were obviously outgunned (they only had sidearms).
2: They were outnumbered.
3: They were in inferior craft, so couldn't make a run for it.
4: They didn't like the idea of a guaranteed death
5: Even though they knew they were in Iraqi waters there was always the chance they had made a mistake.
6: If they had tried to defend themselves, would we now be at war with Iran???

They probably didn't want to die. The UK soldiers were in inflatable rafts. The Iranians had 2 gunships.

They didn't know they were at war with Iran. They were just watching for smugglers. I guess the smugglers caught them.
