just trying to help my soninlaw out,he is working to many hours to fix it hisself,i have new gasket set,jus need to know the correct timing an how to set it. thks,any help would surly be appreciated. shack

If it is a CDI ignition you have to use a timing light. If it has breaker points you need to adjust the points to set the timing. You will need to use a ohm meter or test light across the points so that you can tell when they open and close. Remove the starter and point covers. There are marks on the flywheel and the engine case. Set the points so that they open when the marks are alligned. Turn the flywheel in the normal direction. Make sure you use the "F" mark for allignment.

The procedure is the same. The specs/settings may be a bit diff though, due to the torque specs of the cam.
