As a Liberal it is easy to see many flaws in the Conservative mindset. Every time a Conservative spews forth some pathetic self-righteous utterance we as Liberals react. We feel the passion against their drivel deep in our guts, but many times we fail to see the rational evidence against their position. Our thought is based on a belief that there is a definite right and wrong, and we must always do right. Righteousness is based on a belief that regardless of our state it still exists. We cannot justify doing wrong because we do not make the rules, and if we were to die tomorrow right would still be right. A defining principle of Conservativeism is moral relativism in which right and wrong are defined by an individual’s position in life. Here in lies the problem that we as Liberals face.

We cannot fight their position on any intellectual level because we are not even playing the same game. Trying to judge their position by our moral principles is comparing apples to oranges. Take heart because we do not have to display their errors, their own philosophy does a better job of that than we ever could.

Their main flaw lies in their inane definitions of self. They profess not to believe in an all encompassing right and wrong, but in a belief that it is each individual who defines their own personal right. They throw the idea of a moral law, and a creator out the proverbial window. Fear not because they continually contradict this defining principle of their own doctrine. They rationalize all of their actions based on moral relativism, but judge the Liberal position based on our rules. They will not define an abortion as wrong because they say it may have been right for that individual at that time while in the same breath they cannot emphasize enough how wrong the Liberal position is. How is it possible to define our position as wrong, but justify their own immoral acts? They cannot without contradicting themselves.

In light of this it becomes clear that they do not really believe in moral relativism, rather there is some other motivation to their thought. I contend that despite their vast efforts to seem righteous, it is evil that navigates their ship. They deny moral law because it is easy to cheat steal and lie.

We as humans have this little problem called original sin, and unless we submit to the fact that we must avoid wrong we will do wrong. All the budding Conservative has to do is deny the fact that they are bound to moral law, and bingo life is great. They can now proceed to whittle away what conscience they ever had by repeatedly doing the wrong thing and justifying it through a Conservative doctrine. You and I as Liberals give ourselves over to moral law and are fulfilled by true righteousness. The Conservative in turn floats from scandal to scandal all the while justifying their acts, but never finding the peace that comes from truly being right. Their attempt to break free from the moral law confines them in a prison of immorality much like a bank robber. In his attempt to flee the law he increases the time he spends in prison. The Conservative is the bank robber of the philosophical world.

They believe that robbing another will provide them with wealth, but all they accomplish is their own self-demise. I pity the Conservative for their blindness, but I am weary of them because bank robbers will shoot back when the law catches up with them. We as Liberals must hone our intellect, and be prepared to put the Conservative down when he tries to shoot his way out of the corner he put himself in.

I think you give conservatives too much credit.
Not one of them mentioned that your copied post has the same amount of truth in it as trish's original post.
That is to say, none.

I believe so. The problem is that there can be no rational debate. Liberals tend to question, we tend to be a bit cynical about the world and not inclined to believe the propaganda fed to us by our society, culture, religion or government. Like Dorothy, we are compelled to pull back the curtain and reveal the wizard for what he really is.
Conservatives simply believe. They believe they are right, therefore they are. They believe the government can do no wrong, therefore it doesn't. They believe liberals are their enemy and therefore we are. They believe the media is left leaning, therefore it is. They believe Iraq is part of the fight against terrorism, therefore it is.
I could go on...but you get the point. You can never win an argument with a person who simply believes they are right. No evidence to the contrary will ever convince them otherwise.
Really, we may want to pity ourselves. We live in a country where fully half the people simply choose to believe rather than rationally understand the world around them. They have constructed a fantasy world for themselves to dwell in....and that is a very frighening thing.

So, now you want to attack people just because you disagree with them. Or because you don't like their moral beliefs.
As long as we keep attacking people, rather than discussing issues, this fanatic partisan divide is only going to get worse.
Tolerance of other beliefs is a core aspect of the liberal mindset. Conservatives at least have somewhat of a justification when they reject that which is in the minority, since valuing conformity and tradition is part of their mindset.
But liberals have no excuse for this type of behavior.

Moral relativism is a defining principle of conservatism? Wow. I don't believe I have ever heard someone state that.
I forgot to add that I really didn't see you refute any specific policies supported by conservatives.

I hate to tell you this but a lot more liberals have thrown out the idea of a creator than have conservatives.

I may be a libertarian, but this category generally gets worse by the day.
I believe in freedom of speech, but I also think it would be too sweet if Yahoo "sorted" the postings by what they considered "intelligence level."
I could handle that yardstick; I just wonder if it would be sufficient embarrassment to others when they saw their posting in the 4th grade category...

Libs are running scared. Time Magazine which is liberal has a poll saying Rudy would beat Hillary and Obama. Even Republican liberal John McCain beats the two of them.

umm nice rant there.
LOL moral relativism is NOT the definition of concervatism, thats a liberal position, you know.. theres no black and white only shades of gray... ya know that crap.
You have described things pretty much totally opposite of how they are... now if you leave what you said but change conservatives to libs then you have it right.
And original sin is a crock. you are responsible for what YOU do, you are not responsible for you dad, or anyone else.
