I downloaded mIRC from the sites homepage and my ZoneAlarm Security Suite considered a virus from the very beginning. I ignored the warnings and every time I tried to do anything I received twice as much foot dragging (warning advisories) then usual. Seeing the mIRC didn't work for my computer I deleted it but some files are still lingering. Zone alarm considers them viruses still, and when I delete them they just restart a new file. Another thing that makes me think that somethings up is the fact that half them have "not.a.virus." in the title. Soa s of right now I"m confused. Any help?

mIRC isn't a virus. It's one of the most popular IRC clients available or so I've heard. I personally don't use it because I prefer how chatzilla is neatly integrated into FireFox. I have encountered not.a.virus before and believe it or not it actually isn't a virus. I found it when I downloaded a certain program meant to do a certain something to a certain OS so that I wouldn't have to do a certain something that I didn't feel like doing in order to continue using said OS. It worked perfectly and I did a virus scan afterwards and the system was clean aside from where it showed not.a.virus in the first place. There could of course be other things that are viruses that also call themselves not.a.virus but the one time that I have encountered it I can say it wasn't a virus.

First of all do not care about viruses names!! the creator gives them any name he/she wants!!
secondly, remove it from your system from Control Panel!
Start
Control Panel
Add/Remove Programmes
select it and click remove...

If you still get virus alerts then try to restore your computer back using system restore... (start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore)
i hope i helped!

Hi. ZoneAlarm plays it safe. If you are sure your copy is good you can tell ZA to ignore it. http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?s=mIRC&gwp=13
The program probably modified your registry so as to load the program on each boot. You might try one of the free registry cleaners such as Advanced WindowsCare to fix it. http://www.iobit.com/AdvancedWindowsCarePersonal/
