Drugs have nothing to do with the constitution (unless you use the constitution as rolling paper). Drugs harm people, are addictive, are illegal, and can create a bad environment. In fact, if drugs were allowed in school, it would violate the rights of those who want to learn. Everyone is entitled to a free (well, affordable) education, and if the classes are disrupted by addicts, then there is no education.

The constitution does not provide any implied right to take drugs. Nor does it prohibit government regulation of drugs.
So, the constitution says nothing on the issue.

That leaves the states to do anything they want, and the federal govt to prohibit the sale of drugs under the Commerce Clause.

No, why would you think that? Drugs are against the law. It is not your constitutional right to just do whatever you want because you live in a free country. Wake up pal there are people overseas fighting for your freedoms!!! Do the right thing

ok, i understand everyone's point, but think about this--what if the student is smoking medical marijuana with a doctor's legal prescription and all, does that change matters?

in my opinion it does not, although the constitution protects people's right to privacy from unjust seizure or arrest with out probable cause of crime (4rth amendment) you have to realize that while in school, students are the responsibility of the administration, they are stand in parents and have limited rights and obligations when dealing with the student's safety--therefore they have the right to drug test student---to prevent drug use in school. Your rights can not interfere with the safety of someone else.....
