Well I, umm.. I play with scissors (i cut myself) and I'm visiting my friend Laura this week. It might be hot outside and I dont just want to wear a sweatshirt or longsleeves to cover the cuts. What should I do?!

Hi Manda,

You can conceal scars with Dermablend if they're severe (you can find it at Ulta or Sephora). If they're pretty topical, you can cover them with your regular concealer: blend well, then pat powder over the top to help it adhere better and last longer. Self-tanner can also help disguise whitened scars (I have several on my arms from riding accidents, and it seems to really hide them).

On a related note...please, please understand that cutting is a SERIOUS issue, not just something that you can do to relax or to relieve stress. It's a sign of a mental health issue (which is nothing to be ashamed of) and you should get help for it. There are several websites where you can get support- just do a Google search.

Best wishes!

im not gonna lecture u on the evils of cutting. instead, i'm gonna help you:
i use to 'play with scissors' too. and this is how i covered it up. u know those sweatbands that were popular a couple years ago? the ones that you put on ur wrist/arm? get a longer version of that and put it on. i used that for a few weeks while on vacation and nobody noticed anything. it might b a bit dated, but its a sacrifice your gonna have to make.
i dont advise makeup because if it is as hot as you say it is, its going to melt and cake and attract attention.
good luck. just so u know, i dont play anymore. and i used a vitamin E superstrength cream for a few weeks. now i have no scars.

hey well can i just start by sayin you do not need to be an emo or a goth to cut your self, i no ppl who do it and they are girly girls! and it isn;t attention seeking ppl who think this are very closed minded and pretty selfish actually! but to cover them up maybe you could try some make up like foundation or concelaer, and it might be best to tell your friend laura what is going on, if she is a really gd m8 then she should understand right? if u can;t talk to her about it then i am here or go and see a doctor... ?

If Laura really is your friend then tell her show her I know that you don't want to but to bad if she is your friend then she wont judge you and if shes not well then you can find that out when you show her

well are they recent cuts? or are they old and scarred over? well if they are recent i usually use wrist bands or jewlery but if they are scars from older cuts i usually use some foundation to cover them up, hope that helped

(a) get help. i bet you that laura could help you through this

(b) a friend i know cut herself b/c she told one of her friends that she would cut herself everytime he did. she hid it from her parents by wearing a sweat band. then again, it depends on where your cuts are.

please do not listen to the negative comments. you are not emo or goth because you cut yourself. you cut yourself to make the emotional pain stop by inducing physical pain instead. do not try to cover your cuts. let laura see them and then ask her to help you.
