actually one of my best friends was from London and came to stay in my town for about eight months while her dad was here on work. she always made sure she talked slow and almost as if she were talking to kinder gardeners. she didn't sound like it though, she sounded perfectly understandable it was just uncomfortable for her. i recommend you say a few words that usually trip people up a few times each day and try to say them more clearly try these (they are from a movie ((anchorman)) but they work really well)

1) ow, now, brown, cow
2) Unique, New York
3) the arsonist has oddly shaped feet

they sound ridiculous but work

hope i could help

OMG, I feel your pain.

I'm French Canadian, and french was my first language.
Sometimes when I visit my cousins in the U.S. when I speak everyone is like "Can you say that again, Lillie?'

And I might have to move there next year....ohhh goddd.

Anyways, I do tongue exercises, its easy, up, and down, side to side, and I also watch T.V. any try and copy their accents.

Good luck!
