No because Jordan was a far superior defensive player.

Just because he broke Michael's old record doesn't necessarily mean that he's entitled to the same height of glory Michael achieved. This is my opinion, and I'm not forcing anybody else to believe it, but I think Kobe is just trying very hard to become as great, if not greater, than Michael Jordan. Which, by the way, isn't going very well in my point of view. Michael Jordan will always be THE most amazing NBA player, no matter how many of his records are broken. This is based on performance, not popularity (but in his case, that works too). ;)

Short answer? Yes.

Kobe Bryant is already a better and more skilled player than Jordan was.

HOWEVER, Bryant won't be considered to be a better overall player than Jordan, and shouldn't be. Jordan has many more accomplishments than Kobe, and unless Kobe finally wins some MVP's and a few more Titles, it's not likely he'll even be mentioned in the top 5.

he has a chance but it will be nearly impossible. Kobe can score 50 on horrible teams hoisting 45 shots. but MJ made his legacy in regular season AND in postseason. Kobe has sucked in every finals series he's ever been in. check the box scores- THE ONLY reason he has 3 rings is because of shaq's dominance. Plus, with how stupid kobe is off the court (and low IQ on the court if it doesn't involve scoring) he will not even be top 25 unless he learns that basketball is 5 on 5. but he will be better at playing dirty, raping, snitching on teammates, whining like a baby, breaking up dynasties into .500 teams, etc... :)

Nope for one reason.....MJ was the reason the Bulls won championships. After MJ quit they sucked. Kobe was in Shaq's shadow in L.A. and they won titles....After Shaq left. they didn't even make it back to the finals. I don't even think Kobe will win another title unless he goes elsewhere. That or if Shaqdaddy comes back. he isn't a natural leader like Jordan. He is a different player.

Kobe will go down as a great player, but not greater than MJ. Kobe will be known as a scorer without any D what so ever. MJ had it all the scoring, the defense, and the swager. Plus he was never accused of rape.

hard to compare, they are from different eras of the league...one thing im sure of, mike will have more rings than kobe... would have looked better if Kobe hadnt shot 35% against the Pistons when they lost that finals...MJ was always huge in the finals...

No, because Kobe doesn't do it in the playoffs.

Jordan made his legend in the playoffs, in the Finals when it's all on the line.
