My husband was accused of stealing a an item by an employee from Wal-mart. He did NOT steal anything. The item in question is supposedly a Music CD. (this music cd isn't even music he listens too) I don't appreciate this.

It's not about the item or price..it's about the principle.

What would be the best way to settle this matter..as now everytime i go into wal-mart i want to have a few words with this women? what options do i have?

We shop there alot and have spent TONS of money. Blowing it off doesn't feel right to me. My husband is 30 years old..like he needs to steal a cd..

My feeling is that the women is actually prejudiced against my husband because he is a foreigner (from australia).

I feel he deserves an apology at the very least...as he's greatly offended by this.

Don't challenge the employee directly. That just makes it worse.

Speak to the management, and ask if charges are going to be pressed. Be calm and polite, and explain why you think a mistake was made.

And begin looking for a lawyer if they intend to press charges.

Do not talk to the employee because you obviously have issues there.

Make sure the store is not pressing charges. I think you would already know this because they would have detained or arrested your husband.

You have the right to view the camera video of the event. Request this from the store manager or district manager. Do not accept an associate or department manager. You can find out who the district manager is by calling 800-Wal-Mart.

Since your husband is innocent, offer that he take a lie detector test. He should be able to pass, unless he suffers from anxiety. If you offer then it makes you sound more innocent. I did this when it came to a drug test. I offered up my arm and my hair to do the test. These will prove a longer avoidance of drugs. The hair goes back several years. As my hair is several feet long, it will take me back to birth. Because I was willing to do this, they believed that I never have and never will do drugs. They decided to forgo the test.

If they are pressing charges, you need to consult an attorney. I would not mention anything about the profiling. This does not help your case. Playing a race card, sex card, or any other discriminatory issue makes you sound defensive.

Do not confront the woman. Simply say something about it, once the issue is resolved, to the manager. When you see her just smile at her, even if you have to grit your teeth to do this. Do not give her any ammunition against you. She will be suspicious of you even if this all works out in your favor.

One other thing that you can do is purchase you items on www.walmart.com. It will cost you a little more for the shipping, but you won't be spending time or gas. They also offer discounts when you order more than certain dollar amounts.

Hope that everything works out for the best...

Have been in a similar situation when I was a kid, (i.e., accused of stealing tips off a table by a waitress, unnamed).

Probably, unless there was a legal action that occurred, just blow it off.

Wal Mart has an extensive security camera system and it would seem the matter could have been resolved in that manner, play back of the tapes.

That also happened to me at Walmart, there was an issue, though not about stealing, but rather who did what. The manager excused himself and came back and vindicated me because the camera verified what I said to be true.

I would seek an attorney and explain what happened to your husband. Ask what the attorney recommends. Then you can decide where you want to go from there.

Go to other stores other than Walmart. I know you can get good deals there, but there are far nicer places where you can afford things.
