How Does Social Behavior affect the Daily activity cycle of an animal?

I'm curious how social behaviors result in a pattern of activity in an animal. The animal in question (its fictional) is most active at noon and least active at midnight. Knowing how food availability and predators affects the cycle would be nice too.

For every animal (including humans) daily activity is inseparable from social behaviour. Our actions are determined by the environment we inhabit.
