When I say things that indicate my distaste and suspicion of "corporate America," people often accuse me of having socialist leanings & defend the practices of corporate America (CA). I do not see gov't regulation as the best way to improve things. I'm most confused by people who are arguably more negatively than positively impacted by CA cheering for it. Am I missing something here?

In the world today, if you look around, large government does little to improve quality of life. Large government puts bottlenecks in production stream. There are only two forces that work to provide improved quality of life 1) You and I, the consumers, who choose what we buy and intelligently buy from those companies that produce what we want 2) The companies, many times corporations, that produce what we want. -- The free market system has provided us with the strongest most stable economy in the world. So we are the ones that benefit.

Yes, there are times that corporations are run by corrupt individuals. Corporations are not corrupt; the individuals that run them can be corrupt. If you continue to buy from companies that produce products in a manner that you don't like, then you are telling the companies, with your dollars to keep doing what they are doing. Individual responsibility is the key. I am not excusing corrupt leaders. They should go to jail if they are doing things that are illegal. They also must have individual responsibility. HOWEVER, the minute you blame the other guy for your problems, you are not solving the problem.

You might be. Many CEOs, CFOs, major share holders, and other top dogs in corporate america do know something the rest of the public dont. They have control over the federal reserve, the power to litterally make money. The federal reserve system is broke into a few districts across America and each have a board comprised of top dogs for major corporations in that district. The media saying things like " housing sales are at an all time low" is meanigless. Statements like these, call them biased or ill-informed, dont demonstrate the whole picture, just a small part of it(the individual district). However many people do understand the role in which CA plays as an economic factor, especially within their neighborhood. Without these checks and balances you might not have enough money in your pocket to read this message.

The fact is that without corporations, we would have nothing ... no car, food, banking, medical care, jobs, etc. As far as regulations, these cost money. And, since corporations are going to change money for their services, these costs are simply passed along to consumers in the way of higher prices. The same is true of taxes and increasing the minimum wage. All of these things drive up the cost of what we pay for products and services.

If you don't like the way the Government of the United States of America works then run for Congress or give money to the right candidate for you or at the very least vote for the right candidate for you.

Did you vote for Al Gore in 2000?
