My doctor said there was bout a30% chance of misscarrying in the first 3 months. I was wondering if that percent goes down each month? Like maybe at 1 month you have a 30% then at 2 months you have a 20% chance of misscarrying.

Most miscarriages occurr in the first three months. The risk is probably closer to 20% of all pregnancies. However if the doctor is able to hear a heartbeat then the risk drops to about 5%. So if a babys heart beat is heard, the chance of a successful pregnancy goes to about 95%. It is possible to detect a heartbeat perhaps as early as 8 or 9 weeks. and sooner with ultrasound.

The chances of miscarriage gets less and less each month. A strong heatbeat is a good indication that things are going well as well as good hormone levels. I miscarried at 14 weeks. The heartbeat was strong, but hormone levels were not as high as the doctor wanted them to be. I was concerned that I was going to have a baby with something wrong with it. When I miscarried, rather than get upset about it, I was relieve that God had a design for when things aren't going as they are supposed to. The miscarriage was when my first son was 6 months old, and after 5 years of unexplained infertility lots of shots, meds. and IVF and finally getting pregnant on my own during a rest cycle. We got pregnant again 3 months later and I have a healthy baby boy 2 1/2 years ago. While I would continue a pregnancy if it meant the baby would be born unhealthy, I would much rather have a healthy baby in the end. So, look at it from a different perspective, don't worry, (we all worry about that sort of thing), and do all the right things - take your prenatal, folic acid, eat right, get plenty of sleep, etc. Hang in there!

There is a greater chance of miscarrying during the first 3 months. That's the danger zone, after that chances greatly reduce.

I think every woman worries about miscarrying early in her pregnancy. I have with all 3 of my babies.

Yes, the risk does go down with each passing month but I don't know the exact numbers.

Yes, the chances diminish with each month. If you make it past the 4 month mark, you are probably in the clear.
