Respect her wishes, you choose to smoke not her. Second hand smoke also kills. Step outside or in your garage to smoke this way you both are happy.

It has been said that marriage is a 50-50 proposition. Don't believe it. It is 95-5! You must be willing to give much more than you expect.
I am a smoker and my wife isn't. I do not smoke around her, but go into another room and smoke out the window.
I love her, so, I respect her wishes - second-hand smoke danger aside - even I admit that the smoke stinks.

Well thats the thing with girls.. they say they like you as is and then spend the rest of thier life trying to change you....
I've been through this before with an X... guess whos still smoking & drinking? (and the smokes are much cheaper than the former wife ever was.. even at todays prices)
One of my fav phrases to use on girls these days is..
"Impersonating my X wife isnt gonna get you anywhere.. including laid" (yes i really use that one a lot LOL)

I would quit smoking. It's so awful for you anyway...
I agree with an earlier poster-- I think it's hard for smokers to understand how truly gross smoking is to non-smokers. The smell, the taste, not to mention the anxiety it probably causes her over what it's doing to your health. What if she had a habit that absolutely mad you want to rip your hair out and she just treated your frustration like it was funny? Wouldn't that drive you up a wall? You should quit.

Like the other posters said, if she married a smoker, tough pooey :p
But I think you just need to sit down and establish guidelines, like where you will smoke (I would agree that smoking indoors is not cool, unless you are in the garage) and if you should clean up (mouthwash, cologne, etc.) And she needs to respect that you will smoke at certain times. You need to really reinforce to her that her playing MOMMY on your butt is just going to make you lie, cheat and steal to smoke :p I am serious though, women that nag too much have what comes to them!

You should respect her wishes because I am sorry...but it is selfish not to. She is asking you not to do something around her that is literallly killing her. I heard on MSNBC a couple of weeks ago...that a non-smoking woman has a 1 in 5 chance of developing lung cancer from second hand smoke. That is a 20% chance of getting a life threatening disease by something YOU are contributing to.
She seemingly respects your right to smoke. Afterall, you state that she asks you not to smoke around her...not that she asks you not to smoke. SO...that said...while she respects your right to smoke...please for the safety if your wife...respect her decision NOT to smoke.
I PROMISE you...you will not DIE if you miss a smoke when you really, really want one.
Good Luck! LIZ

In your wedding vows, did she add in- unless he starts smoking?
The government is moving toward only allowing smoking in the privacy of your own home and vehicle ( unless you happen to have an underage child with you) You have just as much right to smoke as she does not too. If you guys really love each other it will work out. Compromise!!

i think that.....she doesnt like you to do it because it grosses her out and it makes you look bad in her eyes, not to mention the fact that it makes her wonder about your health in the future. love is all about respect, and if you REALLY love someone, you should respect them, so yes, respect her wishes when you are with her. when you're on your own, smoke all you want! and, not to be rude, but you never HAVE to have one. see, if you just push the thought away from your mind at those times it will be easier on you, but you dont. IT"S ALL IN YOUR HEAD. it's all your WILL. that's all it boils down to. well, i hope my advice was good for you! do the right thing :).

You need to respect your wife's wishes. Smokers don't realize how nasty it smells and how the smell permeates into the clothes and furniture. If you have to smoke, do it outside the home.
