Humans seem to have this instinct to classify things, be it by races, intelligence, good/bad people or the amount of money they have.

Personally, I believe that everyone judges people coz I haven't found one who doesn't. An example would be one of teachers who boxes people into 2 groups, the hopeless and the successful. Nevertheless, she doesn't give up on them.

My point is that people judge people but they don't neccessarily have to go with their judgement.
For example, I don't judge people by their races but by their money and intelligence. However, I am not mean to those who fall under this categorary. I don't call them names and I hate the way I judge people. Sometimes, I despise myself for that.

I disagree with you. More often than not, we judge people before we get to know them better. However, I do agree that people do change their judgements after knowing others better.

I judge people on everything I see and hear them do. As I learn more, I continue to judge. I'm completely comfortable with my judgments because I don't let those judgments prevent me from getting to know the people I'm judging. The more I learn, the more I can continue to make my decisions on if they are someone I want to know or not. And even once I've made my decision, it isn't something I hold steadfast to, just in case they change my initial perceptions.

So I judge because I know I am judged, and because I'm OK with being wrong.

Of course people judge others, how else would someone make a choice for leadership, what doctor/dentist to use, who to date, who to marry, how to deal with all kinds of diverse personalities in their work day? One has to be able to get to know people and set limits and boundaries on who will be allowed into ones personal life, who one will obtain services from and who can most help one on the job etc. Judgment is discernment. I sure would not want to date a criminal or a psychopath and I also would marry someone who has my values and enjoys much of what I do. Yes I judge people when it is necessary to do so.

I agree with you. I think it's become second nature to judge others and we do it subconciously.
I don't like to judge people and know that the judgements we make are usually based on little or no actual knowledge, but we seem to rely on these superficial judgements as a way to avoid taking the time to actually get to know someone.

Being human it is hard not to judge everyone, as we like to think we are somehow better than those we disagree with - ultimately, I believe it depends on one's spiritual foundation - most religions have teachings on tolerance and warn against false/pre-judgment. I personally try to keep to these basic ideals:
1. We will ultimately answer to God
2. Walk a mile in my shoes
3. Time makes friends and friends make time

I think it's human nature to judge, it's just that some people do it in nastier ways than others.
Although I try to be a good person, I have been guilty of being judgmental myself.

You know what, i would be a hypocrite to say i don't but i do, and it is not good. But, i sometimes judge people, but i also judge people by their character and personality, not always on appearance. But, we should judge people, because that's where stereotyping comes in to play!

I have heard a saying before. "To breathe, is to judge." That is absolutely right. Whenever you see something you judge it, even if you don't consciously realize it.

I judge people. People who come into the store and smell bad, are unclean...I label them as hillbillys and freaks People who open their mouth and say retarded things I label them as being retarded. If they arent happy with their label they should shower/read more.

the question to you should be asking is why do you judge people by their wealth and intelligence?
