I have to eliminate the word outlay since that would be backwards to Lay Out which is what you would do with a pattern or your sewing pieces.

and the other ones you have the answer for

layout -- as in pattern layout
and basting -- stitch used to hold two pieces of fabric together before you do the final seam or stiching
