I'm going to Vegas again in May. I'm looking for a hotel on the strip that has nice rooms nice employees. I was wanting to stay originally at the Luxor or the Venetian but I have read bad reviews about both hotels (venetian is apparently being remodeled).. Any Ideals? I'm not looking for a cheap hotel just a nice one with nice rooms. I really would like to hear from people who have stayed at the Luxor (this is my favorite hotel just because its a giant pyramid) it looks so motel 6 in the rooms online. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

The Venetian is building a new hotel(Palazzo) that will eventually(12/07) connect with the current hotell. You will never know of the construction if you stay at the Venetian.

Try the Pyramid suites at the Luxor, they are some of my favorites >they are very nice 800sq ft suites with Jacuzzi tubs built up into the corner of the room, the view is awesome. The regular rooms in either the pyramid or tower are not motel-6ish they are actually pretty nice. They are not very large though, the pyramid rooms are 370sq ft the tower rooms are slightly larger. Like you I prefer the pyramid, it's just a lot more fun. The Luxor has a very nice pool(s) area.

Venetian and Luxor are both great hotels with exceptional service, if you read bad reviews it's because there are always people who will *****, you could hand some folks a gold brick and they would ***** about it being too heavy.

My favorite resort is Caesars Palace, but, you do want to either stay in the Palace or Augustus Towers or one of the suites in the Centurian tower.

My favorite four star hotel to stay and play is the Las Vegas Hilton. They have a wide variety of very nice rooms to choose from.

We go to LV-2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for over 20 years.

You may not be looking for cheap, but it does not hurt to save a few $$. The Luxor is running a promotion until the end of May - March 31 is the last day to use this PC - the PC code is >PGET19< Rates are still as low as $69 for some days, $144 for the Pyramid Jacuzzi Suites.

I am what people call a "hotel snob". I only stay at the best on the strip. I stayed at:

Mandalay Bay - rooms were very clean and would definetly stay there again. Just too far from the action.

Caesar's Palace - the rooms are nice in the towers. Don't get a classic room. They accidently gave us the classic room and it was a big difference TO ME. It is in the middle of the action so you don't have to walk too far one way or the other. We are staying at the Augustus Tower (the newest one in July).

THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay- AWESOME rooms!! The room is separate from the living room. We stayed in this hotel for 2 days before we realized there were 2 bathrooms in the suite. The lotions and shampoos they put in the room are awesome. You can smell everybody in the taxi line. LOL. We were all joking about that. It is far from the action though.

Bellagio - Nice clean rooms but not a lot going on at that hotel.

Rio - yuk, I wouldn't suggest it. Plus you spend a lot of money in cabs back and forth to the strip. There are better things to spend your money on than cabs.

We get a cheap hotel the last day since check out time is 11 a.m. and our flight is at 11 p.m. so we find a cheaper hotel and pay for the night even though we don't spend the night. We stayed for the day in:

Excalibur - ugh!! What a gloomy hotel. The rooms are motel 6ish. The mattresses were definetly not like the ones at the previous hotels I listed. I would NEVER stay there ever.

MGM - The rooms were very basic. Just like a Marriot or something like that. A step above Motel 6. Chances of me staying there are slim to none.

You can always call the hotel you are thinking of and ask when the last renovations were. We did that for Caesar's for this July and they gave us an upgrade to the Augustus Tower.

Try Flamingo. Cheap and right in the middle of all the action in center strip, across from the Bellagio, Casears and next door to Paris. Great pool too and gardens with rivers, waterfalls, fish, birds etc.

There isn't anything really cheap on the Strip from the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign up to the Wynn anymore. The cheap hotels ie. Circus, Riveria, Sahara and Stratosphere are further north.

There are bad reviews about every hotel on the planet, thats life. If you don't want to stay on the Strip really cheap rooms ~$40-$60 a night can be got at the Orleans and the Gold Coast; both around 1 miles west of the Strip and each offering free bus shuttles to the Strip every 20 minutes or so. I have stayed in both these hotels and they come highly recommended, Orleans is nicers with bigger rooms and pool and more restaurants but Gold Coast is in a better location next door to the Rio and the Palms hotels.

I live in Vegas, don't go to the strip that often, but I've heard the Bellagio has nice rooms, and has nice shops, an art gallery and they have a show there (don't remember which one). The Wynn and Mandalay Bay are pretty new, haven't heard anything bad about them. It's also easy to ride the Monorail (which goes up and down the strip) from the Wynn, which is definitely the best way to get anywhere fairly quickly on the Strip.
I haven't stayed at the Luxor in years, so I'm really not sure about that.

I would stay at the Mandalay Bay again in a heartbeat! What a great place. Beautiful and very luxurious.

If you stay at Luxor, opt for a room in one of the towers, NOT the pyramid. The tower rooms were cool when I was there (several years ago). My friend and I met some guys who had a room in the pyramid and we wanted to see it so they took us to their room. (Nothing sleazy, I promise!) It was SO ghetto! Not nearly as nice as our room and it had that crazy slanty roof so the taller of the two guys couldn't even stand up in part of the room! Not worth it, in my opinion.

If price is no object, go for Mandalay Bay, Wynn, or the Bellagio.

Have fun!

If you aren't worried about price, the Bellagio is wonderful. Mandalay Bay is also very nice, and the beach has reopened.

Basically, I spend so little time in my room in Vegas that that is not really my choosing point. And you can always visit ANY of the casinos to see their attractions. Only determinant for me is I want to be on the Strip.

Palms - great place but it's off the strip.

Monte Carlo - is beautiful. I used to work there

Venetian - amazing place but the parking is down right hectic there.

MGM Grand - I've stayed there. Huge place - nice rooms but a lot of walking!

Madalay Bay - Gorgeous and they have nice restaurants & clubs and they have the Shark Reef.

Bellagio - I've never stayed there, but they have very high standards. I think overall it is the best hotel on the strip

HAVE FUN!

My favorite is the Excaliber or MGM Grand. They are at the top of the strip.. I have a family member who works at the Luxor and they also prefer one of the two I already mentioned. Thats where they send friends and family who come to visit. Good luck-Hope you win tons in Vegas.
