yes, you should feel you deserve both the things that you are given, and what you work for,,,,,,,, just as its ok to feel you dont deserve some of lifes negatives,,,,,
having an ego, feeling good about yourself, is not bad! its healthy! its only negative when you start thinking you are better then others, especially for things you havent worked to develop,,,,, even then, you can be thankful that you saw a different way then someone else
feeling good about yourself is not at all about being "better than", its about being the best you can be, as long as you are not putting others down, you are fine, take pride and happiness in how you are

A person like you deserves the things they get. Especially something like a compliment or praise. It is okay, normal, and a good thing if you appreciate the things you get. When someone gives you something, as small a s a few dollars for the bus home, take advantage of the opportunity, but never forget who you are or what you believe in. Good Question!

Just remember that everything you do in life has consequences, bad... and good. If you did well, learn to take compliments, realize that people wouldn't give them if they didn't mean them. I used to off-handedly put myself down when somebody complimented me, like I was trying to negate the nice thing somebody just put forth effort to convey, and they'd give me weird looks or try to say something else nice. Just smile (a real one) and thank them. Try complimenting others, too. Not accepting a compliment from someone is like not accepting a present, it's rude and selfish. Learn to take it, if not for you, for them.

It's okay to feel you deserve complements. That's different from feeling entitlement!
It can be uncomfortable to accept complements gracefully. Instead of denial try,
"Thank you! it's nice (sweet, great, kind, awesome) of you to say that"
It strikes a nice balance between conceit and humility.
I even suggest practicing the line so you remember it when you are flustered.
You sound like a very nice person so you'll need to used to complements!

If you get a compliment, appreciate it. It's okay to feel good when you do something good. Just don't get arrogant about it and hold it over people's heads. As long as you allow yourself to appreciate it without making others feel like you think your superior it's okay. It's a good thing to be pround of yourself and your accomplishments.
P.S. I hate it when I give someone a compliment and they fight me about it like they don't deserve it. I wouldn't compliment them if I didn't mean it.

Thank people for the praise and compliments, and believe them if you did a job job. It's not like you are calling attention to yourself. Accepting praise that is appropriately given in not narcissistic. Actually, by downplaying others' praise of your work, you are kind of insulting their judgment. So be gracious and accept the praise. You earned it.

Its surely okay to accept praise and just say thanks each time.. just dont be bragging about it... modesty is a good quality but being proud about your accomplishments are also a good quality... accepting credits can make you feel good inside and thats all i have to say about that..

It's okay to feel like you deserve what you get,
but it's best to appreciate what you get.
It's okay to be confused, but it's best not to be bothered from how other's would think about you!
