I mean duck, pheasant, grouse, rabbit, boar, deer etc- especially if Americans are known to hunt? Don't they eat what they shoot?
And no- an Englishman and even a garlicky Frenchman would NEVER eat cat or dog- we leave that for the Chinese and Koreans (which they really do- that's not racist- that's simply a fact).

Yes I eat game meat- I looves me duck, rabbit and venison. Mmmmm (drool) burgundy and rosemary backstrap is tasty!
I can't get rabbit where I live and closest rabbit is in Australia- where it's diseased from Callisi virus and Mixo'.
I think I might go on a shoot again soon...

It's all about the "kill" over here. Not sure why, just is. More concerned about how many "points" or tips the antlers have than whether it will make a good dinner. It's odd to me as well why some many Americans don't eat game or anything else except for hamburgers and steaks and tacos. I grew up with a German mother who ate raw herring like it was chocolate, so I think it has a lot to do with culture and how you are raised.
Never could stomach the raw herring, but sure love me some escargot! ;)

I'm American and I enjoy game meat, venison especially. A lot of people in my area hunt and they eat their game. I hate it when people just go hunting for the sake of killing another living thing. I don't know how many times I've went into the woods and seen dead buck with their antlers cut off because that's all the hunter wanted, what a waste.

Americans have been conditioned to eat processed meat and are used to the flavor. The wild stuff they describe as having a gamey taste because they are unaccustomed to preparing it. Venison in particular - people try to use the fat to flavor it the way they would beef and venison fat is somewhat objectionable. The meat is not marbled the way beef is either.

Hmmmm, interesting question. These Americans of which you speak clearly don't live in the South where most everything that is hunted is eaten. Even squirrels for the love of all things holy. UGH. I don't care for game meat personally but then again, I don't hunt and kill it either.

Yes,you are right,The reason is the people love to hunt but have lost the knowledge of how to cook the catch, even how to cook fish! Imagine that! The fast food joints must be the reason plus all of the resaurants make it too easy for us!And the women dont want to make a mess that they have to clean up Damn shame if you ask me!

i think mostly because Americans don't want to eat an animal they consider "cute",and we have been desensitized to the cuteness of cows and chickens.......i on the other hand, believe if you kill something you should have a valid reason for doing so,thus eating the animal.i am not opposed to trying new things, but i do prefer to stick to chicken or seafood. the only animal i wouldn't eat would be a rabbit, because i had one as a pet for 7 years and it would sicken me to think of eating one.alot of people where i live, which is NC,do shoot animals for the reason only of the trophy.i think that is dishonorable.

I've eaten duck, pheasant, and deer. I would try just about anything. I was not particularly impressed with the pheasant, but duck and deer are good.
