The heat

I grew up in the south, but have lived in Michigan now for over 30 years......The Mitten state, and rightfully so!! I believe we become accustomed and acclimated to the climates we live in. I can tolerate the cold much easier, as it is always easier to bundle up more, or layer my clothing. Plus, I work outside with horses year round.

I do enjoy the warmth of spring, but humidity decides my comfort level. I can handle dryer heat, as opposed to heavy humid heat, which just stifles everything around me, including my animals. If I have to endure high temps with heavy humidity, then give me an ocean, a lake, or at least a hose to rejuvenate ! :-)

cold. In cold you can do much with modern electric facilities and warm clothes to raise your temp, but with heat you can do little to prevent it. Wear less...but there is a limit to htat, there is not limit to how much you can wear! fans work, but the temp loss goes back as soon as the fan is off.
Plus you can buy heat things to carry around...i have one.
I guess it depends on
a) where you were brought up (me in england)
and b) your health-i faint in even the slightest temp increase if i have not eaten enough, or am not prepared!!! i fainted in literacy in may once...

HOWEVER our body and adaptions provides methods to help both:
in heat:
sweat, animals get a big surface area to lose heat from.
in cold:
teeth chatter, moving muscles, and small surface area to volume ratio.

oh yes, and you can exerise and eat lots of warm food in cold.
In heat you have to eat little, and cant exercise :(

Extreme cold. You can stay inside and dress cosy while drinking hot choclate, watching a great movie with your boyfriend. But what can you do if your hot? If you strip you'll get arrested and that will only cause the sun rays to directly hit your skin anyway!

Cold, definitely. I overheat easily and get woozy and sick. With cold, all I have to do is toss on more clothes. And sleeping in the cold is the best, just toss on more blankets. When it's hot, there's no cure.
