Yes, I know they go down the list for stats. The next category they will go for is who has more wins against the team they are tied with. For example, if the Soxs and Yanks tied and the Red Sox won two more games agianst the Yanks did against the Sox go to the World Series. Go Sox! World Series!

There are many different things that can happen if there is a tie in the standings. I tried to research it on the internet as your question made me curios, but it is surprisingly hard to find. According to Paul Dickson's The New Dickson Baseball Dictionary, "A one-game playoff that occurs when two teams are tied for first place in their division at the end of the regular season. The site is determined by a coin flip weeks ahead of the need for such a game." This does not however cover three-way ties, wild card situations, or anything of that nature. Next I found the following website: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060908&content_id=1652091&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb. This covers all possibly imagined tiebreakers. And has easy to understand examples. I think this is what you were looking for.

If there is a tie in the standings I believe they go to head to head to see who won the season series. At least they did it that way when unfortunately the Yankees and Red Sox were tied at 95-67 but the Yankees won the season series 10-9 and the Yankees were dividion champs and the Red Sox were the wild card.

There is a 1-game rubber match only if it makes a difference in the play-offs. If both teams are out of the play-offs, there is no need for a rubber match. Inter divisional teams play each other nine times during the regular season, so there cannot be a head to head tie between teams in the same division. Home field advantage is determined by head-to-head.

a one game play-off?
who are these kids that said that?
obviously aren't REAL baseball fans.
Any REAL baseball fan would know it goes by head to head record. A good example was last year. Dodgers & Padres had the same exact record, but because SD won more games against LA---SD won the division title.

At the end of the regular season? The teams that are tied, have a one game playoff, provided therre are two of them. I do not think there has ever been more than two tied at the end of the season.
