Specifically choosing between:

They are the same price at my local retailer. So everything is the same except the processor (1 GB memory, 320 GB hard drive, etc.).

In terms of use, I don't do much graphical gaming but I do multi task a lot (although with simple applications, eg / Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Firefox, etc. all open at once). Need to decide ASAP so thanks for your thoughts!!!

No matter what the intended usage .... both are excellent performers.

As a personal choice, I would take the AMD 64 X2 5000+ over that Intel unit in a heartbeat.... no hesitation whatsoever.

If you're not a gamer then Intel Core 2 Duo most def.

If you are a gamer, the AMD. AMD Architecture works much better for gaming.

I have the 5200+ version and I love it. very fast and sorry with Intel they may have great processors but your paying more for the name than the actual product. most gaming systems people put together uses AMD over Intel. one its faster for gaming and 2 less compatibility issues.
