Do you know that most of the prisoners in Guantanamo were bought by the US army like animals ? It is why there are so many innocent people among them. There were bought a few thousands dollars then detained and deprived of their rights. Isn't it the definition of slavery ?

It's not slavery. They are not considered property. Nor is payment of a bounty for their capture the same as "bought".
But it is illegal, as confirmed by the US Supreme Court twice in the past 3 years. Bush just doesn't care what the court says.

Thom,
You want to go there?
One, I doubt the veracity of your sources, which you conveniently left out. I would assume some of those who are held at GITMO was captured as a result of tips for which rewards were paid...that doesn't mean they were 'bought.' I suppose people in prisons who were captured as a result of paid tips were 'bought' too...absolute rubbish.
I suppose you didn't know that many of the African slaves that were captured by the Dutch slave traders were 'bought' from the tribal chiefs the captured folks originated...sold for cheap trinkets.
Another point...those held in GITMO are not U.S. citizens...what rights are you talking about? As far as slavery is concerned, they are captives...they are not being made to work for anything. They are being fed and cared for according to their religious beliefs...which is a hell of a lot more than can be said for how OUR folks get treated by THEM.
If you love them so much, perhaps you should find a home closer to them.

even nonetheless i don't believe of people should be abusing or torturing the prisoners at Gitmo, i'm ill and drained of the whining about terrorists being held without rights. They, and their brethren, did not care about the rights of the individuals on the planes and in the WTC and the Pentagon on 9/11. as far as i'm worried they could sit down there until eventually eventually h**l freezes over.

You mean a reward was given for information leading to their arrest? That's not slavery and it's done all the time. It's done by parents who's children have been kidnapped. Are they participating in slavery?

No that's the definition of imprisonment.
They are not required to do any work at all. If they were, that would be slavery.
On edit: Holy Carp, I missed the whole bit about being "bought". Oh, that's a chuckler.

Slave trade is alive & well in Africa...No one cares...
There are no slaves in Guantanamo...
Rewards are often paid for criminals, this does
not equate to purchasing them as slaves....
Think twice....Write once..
