When I take a walk it relaxes me. Listening to music works. Writing in a journal. Hot shower. Deep breathing. Any kind of exercise really. Yoga. Stretching. Bridges...they put more blood flow to the head.

Miditaion or self hypnosis

However some people will find it hard to relax at first. We in westion cuture have this thing about always doing things. So something like ThiChi or a moving medition. An other good one is:

Sit, breathing from the belly long and slow.
focus on your feel and breathe in count 1.
Then let go of the breath
next long breath focus on your calfs and count 2
Then let go of th breath

Repeat all the way up the body

you could add a squeese into it like breath in - suqeese your toes under - count one - as you relax let go of the sqeese (sqeese only lighty)

Do the thing which you like the best. Taking deep breath for 10 minutes will help.
If you are a music lover, listen to melodious music sitting in dark or by closing the eyes. If you have the habit of writing, sit and write about what makes you feel tense. If you are into meditation, try to close the eyes and concentrate between the eyebrows and visualise a light. Or if you have the facility of Ayurveda nearby, go and take a massage and shirodhara. (If it is not available, go for a cold shower!!)

Meditation is number one. If you want to meditate, do so in open spaces with no noise, or in your home, when no one is there. Close your eyes for 15-30-45 mins, and stop worrying or thinking about anything. It helps every part of your body to relax. Other than that, sleep is not very effective, though crucial. Also, relaxing requires less problems in life, so fix all your problems and worries.
