I haven't seen the show, but The In Crowd was a big hit for Dobie Gray in the 60's.Dont know if its what you're looking for ,but hope it helps out.

Bryan Ferry and the Mamas and Papas have both done the song. I only saw the commercial once (last night) so can't recall the song...but I just did a search and it's actually Sean Stewart (Rod's song) who sings the theme song.

I know Ramsay Lewis recorded The In Crowd...late 60's some time.
