I enjoyed watching both shows but I figured to have such a life daily would be a little stressful?

TV shows take the most dramatic and interesting snippets of the case, and show them, becuase the vast majority of the work is dull.

For a two-week trial, a lawyer may spend 100+ hours doing research, several hundred hours working on briefs and memos, and even longer wading through piles of documents and discovery. And even most of the two-week trial is laying foundation and handling procedural matters.

So, how many people would watch a TV show that was 30 minutes of watching a lawyer read documents or type, 10 minutes of standing around in a courtroom waiting or talking about obscure procedural rules, and 4 minutes of drama?

Not at all. The practice does have drama from time to time. For the most part it is long days of hard work behind a desk, in meetings, in court, taking depositions, researching, etc. It is no walk in the park. But it is rewarding if done right.
