You should never use cedar as it is toxic. It has enzymes in it that cause liver and respiratory problems. Plainly it can kill your pet. Pine is questionable, but the risk is much lower as long as it has been kiln dried as drying removes many of the toxic enzymes.

The chemical that gives the sweet smell to cedar that people tend to like is actually a mild toxin for small animals, which is compounded by the fact that most have sensitive respiratory systems.

Avoid cedar. Pine bedding is alright if you make sure that it has been KILN dried, not air-dried. If you're in doubt, don't purchase it.

Try to find Carefresh somewhere. It's very absorbent, easy to lay down, and you can clean the entire cage just by scooping it all up in a dust pan and dumping it out. Most pet supply stores carry large, compressed bags of the stuff.

Omg do not use either. They both can cause upper respitory problems and in some cases hair loss. At your local pet store they should carry stuff called cell sorb and if they don't then there is many other choices, but do not buy any of the wood chip products like cedar or pine.

DO NOT USE CEDAR. It can and will kill them. It's to toxic for them. I'm not sure about pine. Call your local vet. If they reccomend cedar. Use a diffrent vet. Use shredded news paper or straw. You should be able to get the shredded news paper in the pet store.(trust me I breed rabbits)

Good luck,
Kirsten

either would work. But make sure your bunny isn't allergic to pine. It happens a lot more than most people think. I think pine is softer and therefore more comfortable for the bunny

Both are absorbent, however, cedar really cuts down on odor. It's the only thing I used when I had guinea pigs as a kid.

I wouldn't use either because there is a chemical in both that can irritiate ur bunny's senses and can make him or her ill. I found this article stating why and I hope it helps. If you go to Petsmart or PetCO. there should be other alternatives. Wish u the best with ur bunny :o)

Research the two types.
I personally use egg carton pieces for my hamsters. It absorbes the "mess" they make.
