We have 2 1912's. One has nothing for a mint mark. But one has something below one of the period marks.(on the back it has . cents.)It's right below the first period mark before the word cents. You can tell that it was minted that way, but it doesn't look like a letter. Just a miss mark? Thanks for any help!

It would seriously depend on the amount of wear on the coin (known as the grade, which is usually a number between 1 and 70 in numismatic terms) and what year and mint mark it is. A mint mark is a little letter on the coin that tells you in what city it was minted. The mint mark on liberty head nickels appears to the left of the word Cents on the reverse side. Being one of the later denominations, they're relatively common, but some years that you should keep an eye out for are 1885, 1912-S, 1886, and 1894. And FYI, the last legal liberty nickels that we minted were in 1912, although 5 coins were minted in 1913 illegally by a mint worker. Because of the rarity and fame of these coins, a lot of frauds have been created over the years, usually of 1910 nickels. So if you have a 1913 liberty nickel, it's almost definitely a counterfeit.

In regards to your question, however, they range in price from 5 cents to probably a couple hundred dollars for the majority. The ones with HA stamped on them are worth only 5 cents as they have been defiled. You can look in a book called The Red Book of US coins" to find out standard dealer prices for specific years.

Liberty Head nickels sometimes called V nickels were struck from 1883-1912 not 1920. The HA is not a mint thing and that had to be done outside the mint. It is considered damage. Without the date and grade, I can't help you. If you had listed the dates I could have told you if you have a rare one. The 3 key dates are 1885, 1886, 1912-S and bringing up the rear is the 1888. The 1894 in higher circulated grades is up there also.
