I stopped smoking 5 years ago, it wasnt easy but if your mind is set and you are up for the challenge i say go for it. If you go to your doctor they usually have a nurse who can help you through with the process and you can get most stop-smoking items like nicotine patches and gum on prescription, there are also tablets which can help.
But if all else fails i suggest either sitting on your hands or amputation of the fingers so you can't hold one lol. Good luck whichever way you choose.

First you really have to want to quit. I haven't smoked in over a year and my girlfriend hasn't smoked in almost a year. I just got tired of it and she was having asthma problems so we decided to quit and stopped cold turkey.
For my dad it was a little hard, He has been smoking for probably about 30 years now, if not more. He is getting lazer treatment for it and hasn't smoked in a few weeks. It's pretty expensive, but you can treated as many times as you want in 6 months. And if you smoke a pack a day at about $4 per day for 6 months It will actually be cheaper.

I smoked for some 30 years. The only thing that worked for me was to quit cold turkey!! My wife smoked for 20 years, and the only thing that worked for her was the patch. Good luck.

Chow!!

Here's another link to help you. I know its not easy. I've never smoked but I'm a nurse and have helped a lot of people to stop. Just don't give up trying. If you fail, as you may, just try again... and again...and again. You'll succeed in the end!

Stay up late for a couple of nights and don't get any sleep. Then on Sat. Sleep all day, get up, eat, go to bed early and take a couple of sleeping pills and by Sunday, you shouldn't have the desire as much.

Don't buy any fags. Don't accept any fags. Don't put a *** in your mouth and light it and best of all if someone offers you a *** just say that you don't smoke.
