I have a crack on the inside pane of my livingroom window. Will i have to get a whole new unit, or will a specialist be able to replace the cracked pane? And roughly how much would it cost? Thanks

It will have to be replaced as a unit. (both pieces). As far as cost that will depend on the size of the window. Not cheap.

Replacement of the entire panel is required. Repairing the pane does not do the whole job. Insulated windows usually are filled with a gas (argon) which is what makes the panel resistant to heat transfer and is a more stable gas than others. Cost is usually not a lot. Maybe $50-$100.

Double glazed panels need to be sealed, inside the metal frame there are some crystals that absorb water vapour in the trapped air. Now that this cracked panel is not sealed, it will steam up, creating an amount of trapped water inside the panel.

Replacement panels are easy to obtain. Expect to pay £40 per square metre for glass. And £50 fitting costs.

the whole window pane will have to be replaced because there is no way to seal the window if only one pane is replaced.
