The Democrats are not the party that declared war in 1941 and supported our troops to victory. This group would have surrendered to Tojo the day after Pearl Harbor.

Because you ignored us and called us un-Patriotic when we opposed the War before it started. The war cannot be won. We are fighting for oil and to tear down and rebuild their country. They are fighting us for a way of life, their religion being destroyed, and us killing their husbands, children, and wives. No war will ever be won when the two sidea are fighting different wars. We defeated Iraq years ago, but now we are fighting against Islam. Why couldn't you guys see this was going to happen?
Maybe we were defeated. What would you call a victory though? Killing every insurgent? We create more insurgents everyday by being there. We are the cause of the terrorists in Iraq. People weren't being killed everyday by bombs before we went over there.
I would love to help the Brits. Problem is, we can't get involved cause we don't have enough resources anymore. All of our troops and money is caught up in Iraq. Why did we go over there again? What did we accomplish? How much did we spend to accomplish that?
I oppose the war because the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. The money was too much. The life loss was too much. America used to have allies, now those are mostly gone because of that War. It wasn't worth it and every day we are over there it is making us a worse country. It isn't defeat because we beat Iraq. We beat them to a bloody pulp. Now we are fighting Islam, the only was to beat them is to kill them all. We don't want to win that war. What if someone decided to kill all Christians and Christian nations?

because the President and Rumsfield, et al set the stage for failure.. we arent committed to it, id say we are trying to deal with the reality of the situation we have been put into.. many of us are afraid of the Presidents open-ended "plan" for victory...
also id love to know what the definition of "winning" this war is.. and if we can all agree on what exactly would constitute victory, i would like to know what costs the 30% or so of people who still support this war are willing to pay... I keep seeing Republican politicians on Sunday morning shows and for some reason they never get asked "well what if the surge doesnt work? how long are you committed to doing this??" The President keeps saying "no timelines"... so does that mean we are to say, victory is worth it at all cost, even if it goes on another 5 years? I really would like the President or any Republican politician to tell us what Plan B is if the surge doesnt work...
something tells me it will be a gradual decrease in troops and Tony Snow trying to tell us all how we WERE successful and that this is somehow different from the "quitting and running home" all the Democrats were accused of....

I guess the American people don't know what consequences we'll be facing when and if we do pull out. We don't seem to look at what message we're sending to the terrorists in the Islamic countries. look at Britain, as you say? Aren't they being laughed at now by Iran and the other countries, seeing how weak this once great nation has become?

Realizing a situation is immoral and should never have been entered into in the first place is not defeatist or "cut-and-run" thinking.
I also have to ask myself why do so many people here in the US, when someone brings up something that contradicts what you believe or have been lead to believe, why do you immediately become hostile and shut down? Why is it that no one is willing to hear another version of the story? Perhaps many of you are content with being lead along blindly believing what people tell you but many are not. You know what though, that's OK! It's your life and you have freedoms that allow you to live the lifestyle you choose without interference from others. Calls to silence Rosie by firing her or even hanging her (as Danny Bonaduce has suggested) are calls for silencing and murdering free speech!
Just take a moment to read an article or listen to someone speak without becoming angry. Listen to their whole story without zoning them out and figuratively putting fingers in your ears. Why ignore knowledge, views, ideas or debates of any kind? What can it hurt to listen to a new idea even if you do not agree?
Most people here in the US get their information from the corporate news stations. These agencies are flooding us with what they want us to believe. And ask yourself, how would you know if they were or weren't? What do you have to compare to? is there anyone left that justs reports news and doesn't add opinions? Are there any news stations left that do not report either in an all right or all left fasion? We seem to be a country of war-mongers and the media plays right into that line of thinking.
As far as the British soldiers, no I do not blame the SOLDIERS for anything, just as I would never blame US soldiers. I do believe that the British government did have these soldiers enter Iranian waters for covert purposes. So, it is the British government's fault, not the soldiers. The British (and yes our beloved US as well) have done this numerous time in the past:
* June 2004: An unmanned reconnaissance plane violated Iranian airspace in northeastern Abadan and was hit by Iranian anti-aircraft guns.
*June 22, 2004: Eight navy personnel in three speed boats entered Iranian territorial waters and were arrested by Iranian coast guards; the arrested were released after three days.
*November 1, 2006: Two helicopters, hovering at a height of 150 meters (492 feet), violated Iranian airspace for a total of 10 minutes.
*January 27, 2007: A helicopter violated Iranian airspace over the mouth of the Arvand river and left the area after a warning from Iranian coast guards.
*February 28, 2007: Three navy boats entered Iranian territorial waters in the mouth of Khor Mousa.
Prominent officials such as UN Weapons Inspector for Iraq, Scott Ritter and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Sam Gardiner have both gone on record to state that a war in Iran already began years ago. Not a public war mind you but US and British funded covert operations intended to undermine the Iranian government. Other generals have threatened to "quit" if a war in Iran is falsely started. This is from the Times(http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/wo...
British/US interference in this region dates back as far as 50 years. In 1953 the CIA and MI6 carried out Operation Ajax (officially TP-AJAX), a covert operation by the United Kingdom and the United States to remove the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED nationalist cabinet of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh from power, to support the Pahlavi dynasty and consolidate the power of Mohammed Reza Pahlavi in order to preserve the Western control of Iran's hugely lucrative oil infrastructure.
I could go on and on here but basically you either have an honest desire to learn of these events or you have read the first sentence and immediately became infuriated with this response. I suggest this if you do not agree with me. Instead of getting angry, posting a comment that has to do with ignorance and violence, and dismissing everything I've written as not true, PROVE ME WRONG. Do the research yourself. I have stated facts - dates, names, places - not just regurgitated opinion I heard on Fox News. Use these facts, do the research and come back and post something that debates what I have written - I dare you, you might actually learn something more than way.
By the way I am Independent - not Republican or Democrat. I'm a white male that was born in the United States and has lived here all my life. I grew up 20 miles from the Nation's Capitol. I'm telling you this because I know some of you are saying "he's a democrat", "he's a muslim", "he's an angry black man", "he's poor" or whatever (which, in itself is sad that people discredit others because of race or class.) No, I'm just an American citizen who is tired of corrupt government, corporate zealot media, people who call themselves "conservative" Christians and then call for war and the blood of others and I'm tired of ignorant people who complain constantly about one issue or another but are too damn lazy to read a book or get off the couch and do something about the changes you want.

they wish to actually represent the people who elected them - who overwhelmingly think the war in iraq was a mistake and should be ended asap.
iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
iraq has nothing to do with american security.
iraq has nothing to do with the larger war on terror.
