the vent can only be 1/2 the diameter of the pipe it serves at a minimum. 4" pipe, 2" vent. 3" pipe, 1 1/2" vent. Code

I would use a 2" minimum vent

I have not seen any smaller than 2". Local plumbing codes prevail though and they are different from area to area. A call to your local code office can answer you correctly. In States with colder weather, the vent must be larger to prevent them from freezing in the winter.
