Hello. No friend, employers don't have to give a raise at all actually. By and large I've never heard of anyone having a job where they gave a raise when inflation goes up. Business is subversive activity friend, and all they're interested in is their bottom line (i.e. their financial standing at the end of the year... fiscal). They can refuse to give you a raise for whatever ridiculous reason they'd chose and it's legal and reality. A customer of mine was fired from her job of 20 years for immoral and greed reasons. Business cares only for its own self and whatever it has to do to be viable and get more money it will do unapologetically. So there's no real security in any job my friend, though God will provide for His people. Hope this helps.

Of course not. They can give you a raise if they want. They can leave your pay as is if they want. They can REDUCE your pay if they want. It's called "at will" employment and if you don't like the pay package you're free to leave.

No, they don't have to give you a raise or even keep you employed (in the USA). Most states int he US are "at will" employment states.

Nope. While they should, all they are actually required to do is follow the state minimum wage. And that's only if you work in the right field.

No, a 'cost of living' increase is not mandatory.
It would be nice so that you could afford food and living, but not mandatory.
In today's economy MOST (not all) raises are based on performance/merit

No, they just have to pay you the minimum wage (unless you work in a job that gets tips and the tips are figured into your wage).
