Mainly because if they get education then they'll have to be somebody's dog for so many years. Many time they never get to top or anything.
Here's a example:
You can choose to try go down path where you can be successful and retire before you're 30. Or you can live a boring rat race life and probably never get anything worthy (new car, dream house, neat vacation, etc...) your whole life, have stresses of losing job, make the end meet, keep everyone you know happy, and other things.
Which one would you pick? Especially if you can always go back to school?
I'm in similar situtation. I'm a Muay Thai and training to be mixed martial arts fighter. I've had many bad experience with works mainly because I'm deaf. Bosses would have me do all dirty jobs, never give me a raise, promote me, or transfer me to any other dept. But when I do the Muay Thai fight, I get to make my own decision, have people who respect me, get to do what I enjoy, be around my friends at practice, and the list goes on. Plus I make very decent from sponsor and I'm not professional yet. So this make me not want to work because I feel like they would take advantage of me again. However now I'm going back to college because I want to own a photography and models company in future after I hang my gloves up.
Hope you see why young people doesn't want to work today. May if bosses would be more fair and at least try to give them somewhat decent pay and listen more to them, the young people may will not be so uncomfort abut working.

because some wrongly perceive it as the solution to all their problems. btw, there are lots of celebrities- not all of them but a lot of them who graduated from university or who did well academically, in order to get to the position that they are in. being famous does not mean not having any qualifications, but neither is it about assuming that being loved and adored by millions of people provides he/she with long term happiness. it is not just about being good at acting, singing, dancing playing an instrument etc. if you do not possess the intelligence, the knowledge, understanding, as well as if you are not motivated and willing to work hard, then you'll never get far in life: job wise and personal wise too. fame in itself is just lasts a few years, months or even days on end but knowledge and skills last you a lifetime. but it also about handling fame and you only have to look at britney spears to know how it can screw up one's reputation, when they cannot handle it as well as they should. therefore, fame can provide some good things- most of which are financial and materialistic based but at the same time it can take away the heart and soul and the some of the goodness out of you as well

Kids seem to think they can get famous and rich without an education or any talent. Which of course they can...just look at all the idiots paraded in the papers - famous for being someones girlfriend, son, daughter, ex, they havent actually done anything in their own right to deserve fame and riches. And this is what the media encourage our kids to believe by giving credence to these morons.

For a few reasons.
1. Many young people are attention seekers and like the thrill of being hounded by paparazzi and having all the sex they want out of a famous lifestyle.
2. Famous people make more money.
3. Young people are naive and listen to what the media says what kind of life they should have.
I am 18 and couldn't imagine being famous. I would hate it!!!!
