A federation of two small islands in the Caribbean called Nevis and St. Kitt's (officially 'St. Christopher'). This rogue state last summer captured two American civilians, taking them prisoner, and holding them captive for ransom for several weeks in a prison camp that makes Guantanamo Bay look like Disney Land by comparison.
This government is out-of-control and must be dealt with. I am organizing a war against Nevis, St. Kitt's. Please email me if you have any interest in helping to finance the war effort (securing yourself a nice plot of land and big profits when the development is completed). The plan is to transform the island into a tourist mecca once we've conquered it. We are also looking for skilled mercenaries to handle the invasion and post-war security.
Nevis and St. Kitt's have already shown a willingness and ability to attack U.S. interests. They have done so at a time when Cuba's transformation of government and Venezuela's assertion of influence are already upsetting the balance in the Caribbean. The bottom line is that this rogue regime must be removed from power before they can do any more to upset regional stability. If the United States' government is too busy with the Middle East to deal with problems close-to-home, then it's up to the private sector to address the concern.
Nevis has very nice white-sand beaches and drawing tourists to the area should not be difficult. There will be plenty of profit to go around once the extremists in the government have been deposed.

You ask if the threat is in the future, some may argue we are already on the brink. Your question will split into three categories of contributors, those who think the US are a well oiled super power who succeed in everything they choose to invade, these are the sort of people who will sight Muslim countries as the greatest threat (because they stubbornly refuse to comply with the US). Other contributors (myself included) will say America resembles a scary, inept kiddy, wide-eyed and uncontrollable, and a few might chuck in North Korea, China and possibly Russia, because, well they're just a bit behind with the times really.

As of this moment in history, I believe Iran poses the greatest threat.
Underlying the actions of Iran and several other countrys, is the threat of Islamic extremists from which terrorists are born. That is probably the next greatest threat to peace.

I don't think it is one country but two countries who are bud-dying up to each other. Iran and Russia together hold the biggest threat to world peace.

North Korea, Iran, India, Pakistan are the main contenders at the moment, all Nuke capable and have the power to react to provocation without thinking to hard.
Luckily the India / Pakistan conflict is in a quieter phase at the moment, but could spiral too quickly.

My homeland, the USA. Bullies of the highest order. The government seems to think it knows what is best for the rest of the world. This is part of the reason I now live in the UK.
