I would vote for Colin Powell, period, not necessarily because he was fired from the Bush administration for disagreement over the president's Iraq policies. He is an honorable man, intelligent, engaging, a diplomat, and a great military leader and thinker. That's why he would get my vote.

I knew Powell was going to leave as he was clearly unhappy in Bush's administration, and I don't think he would ever "practice his love" for Condi.
I don't think it was a big secret that he did not see eye to eye with the administration!
Powell knew what the senior Bush said when he stopped at the Kuwait borders, which is exactly what Bush did.
I don't know, I always liked Powell but I would never vote Republican. the last General was Eisenhower, who had been a 5 star general in Europe and was General of the Armies!
Eisenhower, and v pres Nixon introduced the US military into Vietnam as military advisers, and I should know. When I joined the Army in early 1960, my father had been in Vietnam for more than a year.!
I am not sure generals make good presidents.

Colin Powell is not a politician in this environment. The reason he worked before is because he was still in the public view because of his long appointment as Secretary of Defense, which was taken over by um golly I've forgotten her name (see how quickly that happens). Anyway, we already got our wildcards for this round and if he chooses to stay in the game then he should be working on another appointment in the cabinet.

Colin Powell left because he did not agree with the Middle East Policy. He is more of the blue blooded country club republicans. He admitted by stating that I am a Rockefeller Republican.

Colin Powell is actually my fantasy President. The country would be so fortunate to have him. Amazing ethics, brilliant mind, wonderful charisma and communication skills.
Colin did not suddenly leave. He announced years before that he had promised his wife that he would quit when he did. I hoped and prayed he would change his mind, but being the hoonorable man that he is he kept his commitment to his wife.
Colin Powell would make a great president, no one running even comes close to his qualifications.

Powell made a lengthy and persuasive speech to the UN in Feb 2003 which claimed that Saddam had biological, nuclear and chemical weapons of mass destruction. Powell himself did not believe that all this evidence was true, nonetheless he presented it as if it were. We don't need another huge liar as president.

He is a good man but seems to still be a part of the establishment. His son, Mike, was prompted by the Adm to battle the FCC to drop limits on caps so the conglomerates could be in total control of the airwaves.

I've been personally hoping that one day he'll decide to run. I think he's just the type of person that the country needs right now. He has a level of integrity and grit that many of the candidates don't.

No. I would not vote for him. He lacks loyalty and honor. He sabatoged himself---shot himself in the foot as you like. He is not presidential material. Heck, he couldn't even do the job he was hired for....

He would not get my vote. He lacks the experience to run this country.
