Definately not. Straight A's usually only judge whether or not you are able to retain information long enough to regurgitate it on a test. It does not measure common sense or instinct, or talent.

Definately. Students who get straight A's often put more work and effort into their work, creating a lifelong work ethic which will help them to succeed at other things that need work.

no it does not always gurantee any success. I suppose every one is saying that and if your team is speaking for the topic you might not be able to say anything strong. So here are some points
# If you take up a job they will first look at your success rate over the many years. same goes for scools and colleges
# If you are mean by attitude then your grades do make up for it and your great grades will show people that no matter how mean you are, you do have that talent in you.

yeah thats all i can think about.

Nothing is guaranteed in life. How do you define success, anyway?

Straight A's could mean the person is self-motivated and ambitious. Or they could mean the person is insecure and anxious to please parents and/or teachers.

Some straight-A students have worked so hard in high school or college that they burn out and stop achieving. Others are steady and well organized. Sometimes it depends on the student's personality or level of maturity. Sometimes parents help a little too much, and students flounder when they get out on their own.

Straight A's may also depend on the quality of the school. A straight-A student from a poor-quality school may be at a disadvantage in competition with students from more demanding schools.

The team that gets stuck with the pro side in this debate is going to have its work cut out for it.

Well... first of all, it depends on your age.
Straight A's in 2nd grade and straight A's in college are two very different things.

STRAIGHT A'S GUARANTEE SUCCESS IN LIFE -To earn your straight A's you must be intelligent, hardworking and flexible. These qualities guarantee success in life. Also, good grades can help you get into college-let's face it, the good jobs usually require a university degree.

STRAIGHT A'S DON'T GUARANTEE SUCCESS IN LIFE- They just show if you're able to memorize certain facts, obey the authorities and cheat. These are not good qualities. Look at people like Albert Einstein, rumour has it they kicked him out of school. Many unsuccessful students are successful in life for the same reasons, they think out of the box. Oh, and let's not forget that people change. You might have been hardworking in high school but once your first job comes around, you start slacking. Or, you might have been the terror of the school for years and then you reform your life and climb up the career ladder.

Good luck in the debate...

NO it does not guarantee success. If you don't know how to survive in the real world all that knowledge will be useless. You have to have other skills like communication.

We had this guy on our engineering team who got straight A's and knew the material really well, but he sucked at communicating with other engineers and he could never give a good presentation. Basically he ended up being useless because of no social skills.

School will only provide you with a foundation of knowledge, success comes with experience.

No actually studies show there is nothing like that. Here i am writing u the con arguments.

they do not have creativity
they don't know the life(they are not street smart)
it does not mean you are clever but you memorize well
they are anti social

and there are few pro arguments

everything you learn at the school has a reflection in the life
they know how to work hard that's why they can be successful at the work life
they will most probably be rich and thus they will have a beautiful or handsome partner

Nothing guarantees success in life. You can have everything in your favor, and a string of bad luck can just knock you down and leave you hurting.

Good grades are definitely a good thing, and they will help you get a job. But there are many other factors, some are within your control, and some not. What you do once you have a job is much more important ... there are too many book smart people out there who fail miserably. Some people are great at learning, but not good at applying their knowledge to real life.

There is no guarantee of being successful in life , however getting straight A's does not hurt. There are other factors in which success can be gauged: effective leadership; being a good parent; living out your dream by making it a reality;being there for someone in need; being a mentor to educate the wanderer looking for purpose but even so there is no guarantee because life does not guarantee success but creates oppportunities .

Pros of straight As:
1.You would get a place at university(for sure,i guess that nobody will rebate this point)
2.People would see CONFIDENCE in you(rebate point:Confidence does not come out just because you're smart)
3.Employers would have no doubt to hired you(rebate points:most of employers would love EXPERIENCE instead of EDUCATION,--evidence--,GEORGE SOROS is an educated man but end up to be a scum.)

Cons of straight As
1.To get a place at university, you just need to score for the required subjects, not all
2.CONFIDENCE is define by your communication and social skills.you can't get it just by reading from books.
3.People will rely on you too much.
4.Pls give the definition of SUCCESS.so you can manipulate that success is not depend on the level that has been fixed by people, but it depend on YOU.eg:if a fisherman says that 'I'll be success if I can get $500 per day' then,if he manage to get it,he has succeed.

debate is depends on the way you manipulate EVERY SINGLE thing that has been said by you opponent.dont rebate their example, but rebate their main points. The rebater of the team should play their roll wisely.

no, I know many people who were straight A students in high school and then ended up doing horribly in college and vise versa. My best friend almost didnt graduate high school, went to community college, did very well, and just transfered to Yale! I don't think that grades adequately show how "smart" or intelligent a person is. I have another friend who was valdictorian in high school, went to Stanford, did alright there for her first two years then decided it wasn't for her and dropped out of school and is now working at the mall and living back home...
