The concept of family does change from one culture to the next.
Should we be less exclusive in the people we love and support and maybe there wouldn't be kids who need adopting for example.

Please don't make half baked generelisations. I just want to see if some of you have thought this through.
The family concept you all are so very attached to is actually quite new!

Family is not an evil concept. Family can be very broad in it's term and is not just exclusive, in my opinion, to blood relatives. People may grow up under different circumstances and thus bond with those who are not kin, but form a family unit. Family is what the fabric of society is built upon and we learn, hopefully, from those, if we are fortunate to have a kind, loving and faithful family. The concept is not evil at all, but how humans have survived, how we learn about relationships and through family discover many of the life skills we need. Family gives you roots and those to who you can turn in hard times. Yes, family is complicated and there is the saying "you can't choose your family", but without it we would be bereft of a lot in this world. Family can be anything from a single parent and children to a group of friends who are your family.

No it's not an evil concept , just because members of a family are only human in the way they react to each other and others when they are challenged with differences. The concept of family is very necessary to human survival in bringing up the young much as it is with animals in the wild; the young need to be guided until they are old enough to survive on their own.Loving and supporting helps to bring up a balanced human being at least that is the theory nothing evil in this. How can this be evil? Pity you cannot clarify! Are you talking about human emotions when we cannot accept our differences ie: my family are fundamentalist Christians I'm gay therefore conflict arises that does'ent mean they are evil. Just that I did not have an easy childhood or adult journey in my relationship to other members of my family. The same conflicts can apply when you bring up other people's children hoping they emulate you in beliefs and lifestyle.Disapointment is guaranteed. What about reaction when the child wants to know their roots (Mother/Father), where did the conflict come from? You only borrow a child for 18 years or so they then make their own way in life.
Does this help? Interesting question.

The concept of family is neither good or evil. It merely is an expression of which the human condition explains how each person is realted by blood to the next and kin. Family starts at a point of one then branches into many, whether we see the family unit as 'evil' or 'good' is of no relevance to the concept itself.

This very much depends upon which family you mean. There's the family of man [mankind]. There's ones own family - as in, blood is thicker than water, etc. Also there's the Mafia or Roman concept of family wherein you might be called upon to commit some act which may not fit well with your belief in what is right and wrong.

It's all how you see the family. If your referring to the Manson family then yes, but not for most. For centuries the family structure has been the same. Mother, Father Offspring. It's only what happens with that particular family that's good or bad.
So the answer is No, it's not evil.

A family con not be an evil concept.
With the theory of evolution the family has come, to be protected from the evil, to be protected from natural calamity, to be protected in all respect.
At present due to progress in industry joint family is in verge of abolishing from the society only small individual family is being growing up. In spite of the same that small family gives pleasure. love and protection.
If there is no family we can not differentiate a man from an animal.

To be a member of a supportive family is a natural condition for animals and mammals like us.
A family is the best thing in the world for people.
A family is the worst thing in the world for individuals
Both are totally true.
To consider the 'Family as Evil',
is I am sorry to say "perverted".

Family is the basic social group of any society. We all need our families for support, education and help when we have a problem or are in any sort of trouble. How could that be evil?
